ABOUT US
Our story begins on April 18, 1891. After more than 18 years as part of Morning Sun Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 12 members and their families decided to form a new congregation. Since the community was known at that point as Dexter, the new church was named Dexter Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In 1903 the name of the church along with the town was changed to Cordova.
The first building was erected in 1891. It burned in 1911 and a new building was dedicated on November 24, 1918. In the 1950's this building was expanded to include a fellowship hall and Sunday school rooms. In 1988 a new multi-purpose building to the west of the sanctuary that includes offices, classroom, a kitchen and large dining room.
Our current pastor, Dr. Thomas F. Pickering, came in August 2005. Since Dr. Tom's arrival the church has experienced a time of renewal and growth.
