OUR MISSIONS
LOCAL MISSIONS
Habitat for Humanity

Each year we help sponsor the construction of a Habitat house in Memphis. We do this through our giving and hands of help in building one of these houses. Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. People of all backgrounds, races and religions build houses together in partnership with families in need.
The Soup Kitchen
Located at the First Presbyterian Church of Memphis, The Soup Kitchen is a special ministry to the poor and homeless. Church members of all ages participate in this ministry four times a year as well as assist through the donation of needed items.
Metropolitan Inter Faith Association

MIFA is a preeminent social service organization in Memphis that serves more than 60,000 people a year. Programs address specific needs, from transitional housing for families who are homeless, to nutrition, to day care for infants, to job opportunities for teens and much more.
MIFA receives our support through our budget and the Christmas Eve special offering.
INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS
Living Waters for the World

This is a ministry of our synod that touches people around the world. Through partnerships with those in the Third World, Living Waters for the World is providing clean water, education and assistance. Through this ministry we are also involved with the Synod of the Peninsula in Mexico.
LWW is supported by a designated offering received each year.
Heifer Project

During the year funds are collected to alleviate world hunger through the Heifer Project. Founded in 1944, Heifer Project International is a humanitarian assistance organization that works to end world hunger and protect the earth. Through livestock, training and "passing on the gift," Heifer has helped seven million families in more than 125 countries improve their quality of life and move toward greater self-reliance. Heifer helps build strong communities because each project participant agrees to pass on the gift of animal offspring, training, or skills to another family in need.
OTHER MISSIONS
We support denominational mission through our General Benevolence giving. Gifts directed to church-wide mission not only aid in the development and growth of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) but reach out to those in need throughout the world. This giving supports the Mission of our local Presbytery, our Synod and the national church. We also support Missions through a series of Designated Offerings during the year.
Joy Gift

We express our gratefulness for God's gift of Christ during Advent by means of the Joy Gift. It is used to support students at racial/ethnic institutions, and retired church workers and their spouses.
One Great Hour of Sharing

During Lent we respond to the world's hungry, poor, homeless, and oppressed. Presbyterians join hands with millions of other Christians in extending direct support and addressing the causes of human suffering.
Witness
Through the Witness Offering we provide for the causes of global mission, evangelism and Christian education. This is a way that we can proclaim the gospel to those beyond our individual reach.
SERVICE MINISTRY
With sponsorship and/or support of local service groups, Cordova Presbyterian Church serves the community by participating in a variety of mission programs. Exciting opportunities are available for members of all ages and members with varied talents. Each person has something special to give to others. We currently host a Brownie and a Girl Scout Troop, and participate in the program
Cell Phones for Soldiers.
